The Warwickshire Watercolourists

The Warwickshire Watercolourists were set up by Trevor Boult and are now one of the foremost watercolour art groups in the Midlands having been in existence for twenty years.
They are a group of fifty amateur artists that meet every Tuesday under the tutorship of Trevor.
The members are split into two different groups one set meet in the morning and the other set in the afternoon, collectively they are known as the Warwickshire Watercolourists.
The Warwickshire Watercolourists have had many successful exhibitions selling a large proportion of their work, the exhibitions take place biennially over the August Bank holiday and are very well attended. Not only are framed originals on sale but prints and card of the members work which are also available to buy.
About the sessions.
Both groups are held at Balsall Common village hall, the morning session runs from 0930 to 1230 and the afternoon from 1300 to 1600.
They run from September through to July which in total is thirty six sessions.
They are primarily watercolour classes, Trevor tutors every student and each week he demonstrates some aspect of the technique of watercolour painting in a group demonstration. There is a strong emphasis on technique in the sessions and through that improvements are achieved.
Much of the work is based on photographic references, students are encouraged to use their own cameras to provide their own references rather than magazine clippings or other artists work. Trevors aim is to encourage imaginative use of these references with a strong emphasis on interpretation.
The group has a full range of artistic abilities from the absolute beginner to the accomplished watercolourist each with different styles and techniques which make this such a vibrant and enthusiastic group.

There is a long waiting list to join the Warwickshire Watercolourists, however Workshops are run throughout the year. These provide a full days catered course and are an excellent introduction into watercolour techniques.
